Criteria for Inclusion in the List of Sun Protective Product Manufacturers and Retailers

Shade Structures: Manufacturers and retailers included in the list are American or Canadian companies. Some of their synthetic shadecloth fabrics have been tested for UV transmittance using American or Australian test methods. Some shadecloth provides good UV protection depending on its color. Look for darker colors that block at least 90 percent UVA and UVB and have a UPF rating of 10 to 50+.
